Welcome to the Minor in Writing!
Writing has always been an outlet for me. In fact, I can't recall a time when I felt negative feelings toward it other than maybe first learning to write or perhaps suffering through 20 page research papers. So, when it came time to choose a minor, the University of Michigan's academic Minor in Writing was an easy choice. Applying was a terrifying process, as is anything that we care deeply about, but getting accepted is one of my most cherished accomplishments thus far and something I am grateful for every day. The friends I have made and the projects we have worked through together are dear to my heart. I can go on and on listing all of the reasons why the writing minor is beneficial, however I am most grateful to the minor, because it allows me to explore my own writing, thoughts, and ideas in an academic setting surrounded by people who not only share my passion for writing, but who also have new and interesting perspectives that lead me to new conclusions about my own nature as a writer.
